Karnala is a famous bird sanctuary located on Mumbai Goa Highway. It allows a unique micro-climate in the region and the trail is easy yet rewarding. You might catch some awesome birds in action too! It also houses a small fort at top. Many rulers have ruled Shivaji Maharaj captured this fort in 1670. There is a water cistern which provides fresh water all year long. From the top the forts of Prabalgad, Manikgad, Haji Malang, Chanderi this fort from Yadav dynasty, Tughalq, Gujurat Sultanate, Nizamshah of Ahmednagar. Chatrapati fort, Matheran, Sankshi fort, Dronagiri fort, and Rajmachi are clearly visible.

Day 1
08:00am – We meet at Panvel Railway Station Ticket Counter, excited for the refreshing trek ahead. We start moving towards Karnala In a private vehicle.
08:30- We reach Karnala, get our security checks and entries done at Karnala Forest Office. Have a brief introduction. Click pictures near the entry board and enter the sanctuary where refreshing hot tea and delicious breakfast would be ready for us. Watch different species of birds, rabbits playing in their cages and peacocks dancing, which are preserved in the sanctuary.
09:30 – Lets begin our endeavor to capture Karnala fort. It’s a 1.5-2 hrs easy level trek with muddy and small rocky patches. We may witness many different species of birds playing around and their soothing voices.
11:30 – Hurray! We are atop and it’s now time to relax watching gazing at the scenic and mighty matheran mountain range. The cars and trucks passing by Mumbai Goa highway which look like tiny toy cars. Click photos to capture these moments for a lifetime.
13:00 – it’s time to start the descend talking about the mesmerizing views we saw and helping each other through a bit slippery descend route.
15:00 – We are back at the base where traditional Maharashtrian delicious lunch shall be ready to be served. Get the tummies full after burning calories during the trek.
16:00 – It’s not over yet. Karnala is well known for its diverse species of birds it preserves, and now we’ll try to spot them by talking a walk through the nature trails made inside the sanctuary.
17:30- We start our journey back towards Panvel in a private vehicle, tired but getting a flashback of all the memories we made and all the awe aspiring things/views we saw during the trek.
18:00- It’s time to say to say goodbye to all our fellow Hikers! We disperse with new friends made, new bonds created and memories to cherish for life.

No drugs, Drinks and Smoking is allowed during the event/Trek. If you have seen handling, consuming or appear under the influence of any illegal substances we have the right to deny you entry and ask you to leave the premises
The Trek/Event leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No Arguments will be entertained. The Hikers Club & Its trek/event leaders hold full right to expel any participant from the group at any point of time, if they fail to follow trek leaders instructions and are not willing to cooperate, without paying any kind of refund or compensation.
Accidents can happen during adventurous activities, Treks, Leisure Tours or any other event organized / hosted by The Hikers Club, in spite of taking utmost caution and care beyond ones control, The Hikers Club or any person associated with us (which includes but not restricted to) Trek leaders, vendors or participants will not be responsible for injury / accident / death to the participant during the trek / event / Adventure Activity.
Under the current situation, we are taking the utmost precautions to avoid any during the event.
The staff follows strict rules laid down by the Government and the WHO.

The Hikers Club reserved the right to change/deviate/cancel the plan without any prior notice.
Participants Safety is the prime concern for us and will not compromise for the same.
Registration Form should be filled up after the registration is done, so we will have the emergency contact database
The Hikers Club will not be responsible for any loss/damage/theft of any baggage or personal belonging. Every participant shall be responsible for its own belongings.
By Booking a slot / By paying advance amount for the event, the participant agrees to all the above rules, regulations, disclaimers and policies and affirms that he has read the same thoroughly and agrees with the same.
Any arguments on the grounds of ignorance/being uninformed about the above policy shall not be entertained.
